The Job 

We are seeking a dedicated Product Owner to lead our Configuration Management Database (CMDB) & Discovery initiatives. The CMDB is the key to managing services across the whole of IT, whether it’s an application, a database, or a server its essential we know who owns and manages the product and what the inter relationship between them. This pivotal role ensures that business function and IT infrastructure are aligned to support current and future needs.  

As a Product Owner, you will be the key stakeholder for your team, acting as the voice of the customer. You will develop and communicate the product vision, prioritise deliverables, and ensure quality control. Your role is crucial in establishing, maintaining, and growing the CMDB across the entire organisation.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • CMDB Roadmap & Backlog Management: Establish, prioritise and drive the CMDB product roadmap and backlog in collaboration with global stakeholders and your team. 
  • Customer Advocacy: Champion customer perspectives and CMDB needs, translating them into clear epics, themes, and user stories.  
  • Leadership & Decision Making: Make informed decisions on scope and priorities, balancing stakeholder demands. 
  • Collaboration: Work proactively with other product owners to maintain alignment around product roadmaps and dependencies. 
  • Strategic Planning: Research market trends and customer insights to inform the product vision and strategy. 
  • Workshops & Forecasting: Work with technical leads to define the scope and objectives of the CMDB and to maintain and improve the CMDB structure, processes and overall health 
  • Communication: Ensure alignment with company strategy through regular communication with stakeholders and product management. 
  • Release Planning: Lead product release planning and set expectations for new functionalities. 
  • Operational Management: Define the scope and objectives of the CMDB, manage operations, support users, and evaluate maturity. 

We’d love to hear from you if you have:  

  • ITIL qualification and relevant experience
  • Solid understanding of ITIL principles and the role of CMDB in IT products
  • Must possess resilience and the ability to influence stakeholders effectively, even in challenging situations, while maintaining a friendly and positive attitude 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Comfortable working with multiple teams, both in-house and remote
  • Attention to detail and experience with JIRA, ServiceNow, or similar tools

It’d also be great – but not essential - if you’ve got: 

  • Financial Services experience 
  • Any ServiceNow certifications 
  • Experience working with global teams 
  • Knowledge of agile approaches and recent education in agile practices
