Job Requirements/Description

Sighthill Primary School is situated in Wester Hailes in the South West of Edinburgh. We currently have 11 classes across P1 – P7 and our nursery class has the capacity for 70 full time places. Our Nursery operates full time, term time. At Sighthill we take a holistic restorative approach. We meet all our learners where they are and work in partnership with our families to promote children’s learning, development and wellbeing helping to reduce the attainment gap and ensure equity for all. We value nurture and outdoor learning and see these as key to support inclusion and raise attainment. We encourage all our team to strive for high standards with support and development opportunities available at all levels.

We are recruiting experienced Early Years Practitioners to join our Early Level team (Nursery – Primary Two) on a permanent basis. They may be asked to work in any of these learning spaces. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting children to be, confident, capable individuals and helping them to achieve their full potential. Our practitioners will be highly skilled at enhancing children's learning and development, understand their role in supporting children to lead their own learning and will be enthusiastic about creating meaningful experiences and spaces. They will be an effective team member who contributes to the ethos and values of our school, through good communication and professional discussion, using their training and knowledge to demonstrate their enthusiasm for continuous improvement.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Salary: £28,046 - £32,010 (pro-rata for sessional)

Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional
