Specialist Technician - Wood & Fabrication

The Opportunity:

Do you have a creative and technical background, with strong and specialised wood working, making and fabrication skills, with experience managing a wood workshop and a drive to help people realise their creative ambitions? Do you enjoy working as part of a diverse team in a fast-paced environment?

We are looking for a creative and well organised, enthusiastic individual with an interest in craft, art and design, to join Edinburgh College of Art’s Technical Fabrication Team, providing professional expertise, guidance, support and demonstrations in the area of fixed equipment, handheld tools and associated processes.

Your skills and attributes for success: 

• Either HNC/HND or equivalent level vocational qualifications plus relevant work experience.
• Firm grasp of the Health and Safety aspects of busy technical workshops with students as the primary user, with training in Risk Assessments and COSHH assessments.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, able to deliver specialist knowledge to different levels of students from a variety of subject areas and schools across the college.
• Expert knowledge of timber design and construction for a broad range of art & design related disciplines from Product Design to Sculpture.
• An inquisitive attitude and desire to learn new skills and technologies to tackle challenges as they arise, with an ability to solve problems in a practical efficient manner.

Grade UE06: £33,882.00 - £39,105.00 Per Annum, Pro Rata
