Job Requirements/Description

As a software engineer in the targeting organization you will be at the forefront of building privacy safe targeting solutions for our customers, making ads more relevant for customers and more efficient for advertisers. We own the end to end customer experience for targeting from the user interface to the APIs, services, ingestion pipelines, and Machine Learning models. We own large scale services that operate in the order of millions of transactions per second with a low latency. We collaborate with the rest of the advertising organization to deliver efficient systems.

Key job responsibilities

  • You will work as part of an Agile team at our development centre in Edinburgh, Scotland, launching and growing new initiatives for Amazon's global websites.
  • Your team will own the business, technology and operations, giving you the responsibility and authority to ensure success.
  • You will be involved in every aspect of the process - from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through to software development across a variety of technologies.
  • Your systems will meet remarkably high standards of performance and reliability, and will operate at massive scale, 24x7.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Experience in professional, non-internship software development
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
